Last week I was only able to do 225 lbs for 15 reps, but this week I got in 225 lbs for 22 reps. Goal is to get in 250 lbs for 20 reps. Going for 230 lbs next week for 20 reps. Part of my cycling training programs is squats.

  • I lifted weights for 2 years and never had a problem. The idea is to do close stance deep olympic style squats. My back is straight. I go deep to balance the power between the hams and the quads. I got my max up to 340 lbs, thanks to the book Starting Strength. I have never hurt myself in 2 years of squatting every week. Its all good thought because I gave up lifting weights for cycling. Its such a better and healthier workout and 10x harder than the hardest 20 rep squat I have ever done.
