(Fake) Megaman Reboot

What if Capcom gave the Megaman video game series a reboot?
A friend of mine on Facebook said 'If they're going to make Resident Evil 6, why can't they reboot Megaman too?' The idea stuck.

Music is a remix of Dr. Wily's Castle (Megaman 2) by SSH and a remix of the Megaman 2 intro theme.

The story of Megaman is about a city held under the sway of a crazy scientist named Dr. Wily who uses his Robot Masters to maintain his power. Wily's old partner Dr. Light creates in secret a robot to defeat these masters and save the people from Wily's tyranny. Interestingly though Megaman is the second robot created by Light to try this, the first, Protoman, seemingly killed in his own attempt.
I don't see why this same plot couldn't be adapted to a 3D game and possibly a darker more involved storyline!

The band The Protomen reimagined the story of the Megaman video game series as a noir sci-fi. Why can't Capcom give the same thing a shot? It wouldn't destroy Megaman's legacy or deny fans from playing a Megaman 11 8-Bit platformer, but it would show the series could adopt new dimensions and still work.

The games I used for the trailer are Binary Domain, Vanquish, Crysis 2, Deus Ex Human Revolution, Bionic Commando, The Amazing Spiderman official video game, Resistance 3, and Metal Gear Rising.

You do remember when they did this dark and edgy halo-inspired reboot of Bomberman, right? (It was called Bomberman: Act Zero, if I recall). No one liked it.

I think turning Megaman into yet another sci-fi themed cover-based shooter would yield a similar response.

Um...no. Bomberman Act Zero sucked because it had no plot and it was a terrible game.

Consider...

Batman + Dark = Great

Alice + Dark = Great

Now lets consider things that stayed 'bright' and 'safe'

Green Lantern. Without taking an risks was dull and disappointing.

Transformers by staying goofy and actiony turned out horrible.

Star Wars Prequels took away the original grit of the series...and turned out horrible.

@techanstuff Maybe not. I think it might be a good idea to have an megaman reboot, Megaman have a cool history and every fan have his own vision about megaman, because the games are really awesome, but its simple, theres a lot of concept to put in game, I hope someday they will make a cool reboot.

Truth to tell I love the series but I hate the games...if that makes any sense ^^;

I came to know about the story from The Protomen band and thought it seemed awesome, but the games tick me off especially the PSP port :/
