Roofing Mistakes...How Not To Roof!
Avoid These Common Mistakes By Local Roofers

1st Mistake
Missing Metal Flashing "Drip Edge"
Problem:
Water Backing Up Behind Eavestrough As It Raps Around The Shingle From The Capillary Action. Customer Had Ice On The Drive Way All Winter Long.
Solution:
Install Metal Drip Edge "Who Says You Don't Need Drip Edge!" We Install It As Standard Practice On Every Job

2nd Mistake
The Starter Shingle Is A 3 Tab Turned Upside Down,
Problem:
No Seal For The First Row Of Visible Shingle
Solution:
Don't Cut Corners Or Be Lazy. Cut The Tabs Off The Shingle So The Sealant Strip Is At The Bottom Edge, Or Buy Pre Manufactured Shingles That Are Designed To Be Installed At The Edge Of The Roof.

3rd Mistake
No Underlayment Installed
Problem:
Shingle System Is Over Lapping And Relies On Slope And Gravity To Direct The Water. During Certain Conditions, Wind, Ice Build Up, Cause Water To Back Up. Wood Rot
Solution:
Install Water Proofing Underlayment In The Vulnerable Areas Of The Roof, And A High Quality Tear Resistant Breathable Underlayment For The Balance Of The Roof For Peace Of Mind.

4th Mistake
Aluminum Fascia Not Installed Correctly Or High Enough To Protect The Entire Fascia.
Problem:
Wood Is Exposed To The Elements, Overtime Will Rot, And The Eaves Will Pull Away.
Solution:
Install The Aluminum Right Up To The Top Of The Fascia, Install Ice And Water So It Covers Over The Fascia, Install Drip Edge To Protect The Ice And Water, And Strip In A Piece Of Ice And Water To Seal The Drip Edge To The Ice And Water Under Below.

Other Considerations
1. Downpipe Extension
2. Additional Hangers With Screws For The Eaves.
3. Proper Flashing Under Soffit.
