"Johnstown"
Lyrics by Connor Healy, Music by Connor Healy and Noah Potash.
The thirty-first of May In a cold and rainy spring
The waters rising harsh against the damn
Miles and miles away no one had anything to fear
Johnstowns people blissfully unaware
A desperate telegram, with pleas, sent
Begged for the evacuation of the town
One final call of distress
Came from the train of engineer Hess
But these frantic warnings, on deaf ears, fell down
Twenty million tons of water raced down
Roaring and thundering and consuming all the way.
The cascade devoured trees and men alike
2,000 lives simply washed away!
After hearing of the suffering you may ask yourself
How could they make such a great mistake?
Corners cut, and costs ignored
All because rich swine sit bored
So that they may have their tranquil vacation lake!
