Fort Worth's own Icky Twerp was our host of Slam Bang Theater. The pie thrown broke the plate glass window in front of the camera. This was NOT suppose to have happen. The beauty of live TV! Bill Camfield (Icky Twerp) was the reason the Three Stooges came back to popularity on TV. Thank you Mr. Twerp. More nostalgia at www.ickytwerp.net
I was in the audience for this show once for a friends birthday party. Hearing that music really takes me back. Also won tickets to the then new six flags over Texas from Mr. Peppermint and met him. Man, Fort Worth was the place to be in the early 60's

I remember watching this every morning gettting ready for school with the 2 or 3 three stooges shorts thrown in with 2 or 3 cartoons featuring tom slick, george of the jungle, super chicken, felix the cat, tennnessee tuxedo and so many more great toons most mornings mon would be yelling to leave but we had to watch the last three stooges although we seev them all a hundred times those were the good old days and that wacky slam bang theatre music was classic

@bootspur Ft. Worth was great for us kids back then! Here in Tyler we managed to be glued to the whole hour every morning during breakfast and getting ready for school. This adult stuff was kids stuff, too.

I grew up with this. I had a little TV in my room and Dad would come in on school mornings to wake me and turn that noise on and tell me get up son, GET GETUP! You have to take a pee the world is on fire, AND THE PRESIDENT TOLD EVERYONE TO GET UP and GO PEEE!!

These guys were nuts, but to think that a television station had a show with adults designed for kids to watch while getting ready for school, or eating breakfast and it was just insane, it was so great. But look around TODAY nothing.

I had the pleasure of "throwing the paper" (Ft. Worth Press) to Bill Camfield's residence for a while when I was but a lad. It always impressed me how he looked "quite normal' when not in his Gorgon or Icky Twerp character. He alwys treated me nicely and it thrilled me to have him say hello the few times he was outside when I delivered the paper.

Well, we lost Cap'n Swabby (George Nolen) the other day. His final words were, "Hey, now listen guys, nobody is more unhappy about this than ME."
