iPhone 2.0 Software Test Drive Part 2

IPHONE 2.0 FIRMWARE FIRST LOOK!

Made on my MacBook's iSight Camera. Downloaded the file 2.0 software on Apple.com this morning. Works great and I'm showing off a few of the new App's now available.

First go into Safari Prefs and uncheck "Open "safe" files after downloading" under the General Tab.

Next Download. (From: http://www.macrumors.com/2008/07/10/...ailable-early/)

Next right click downloaded folder and go to "get info" - Or - Just rename the folder by deleting the ".zip" from the name. So that it's an .ispw.

Next go in iTunes. You want to click Restore while holding the "option/alt" key.
And click the folder you downloaded and changed the name.

That should do it! That's all I did.

Apple is currently having TONS of issues. All that I can recommend is to wait and everything will be cleared up within the next day or so. Sorry.

Jjust to clarify, it was in the 1.1.3 FW, but not found until the 1.1.4 release. It must be enabled, unlike 2.0, but it was there the entire time. All apple did in 2.0 is enable it for the public, however it is not new since it is the same code present in the previous 2 FW's that needed activating which most people have already done on the 1.1.x FW. With most iPhones being JB'd most people have already been using the built in feature for 6 mos by activating what was already there in the FW.

Screenshot is not a 2.0 feature. It was enabled in 1.1.3 and 1.1.4. Simply hold the home button and flip the mute switch on the side for a screenshot. This feature was released two firmwares ago. Just FYI.
