After doing research on Loan Modification Default Rates and Shadow Inventory Rates i am in shock. This is very serious people. I feel very bad for all the responsible people who have been paying on their loans like clockwork hoping to use equity to subsidize their retirement. Can anyone say "poof"

You're right George, some people aren't in trouble but purposely allow their house to foreclose. They'll rent or buy another home cheaper.

@amcanmike
Because of bailout money going to the banks they've been able to hold off having to liquidate their foreclosure inventory, therefore keeping supply low. I was actually waiting in line buying silver (just after it spiked a few months back) and a real estate flipper told me that it was hard to find houses to buy.

Thank you George. What is your take on off-the-grid living, and how would you go about that?

I can't believe as of now people still think that flipping houses is a good idea, buying houses is not an investment.
