Black Bear In Redding, CT

On June 21, 2011 a Black Bear was spotted in Redding, CT. They are native to Connecticut but sometimes rare to see as far south as SouthWestern, CT. This comes in the same month we had a Moose and mountain Lions in the area as well.

Students at Redding Elementary School were kept inside today after it was seen near the building.

The bear was also spotted outside John Reed Middle School.

Police say they made efforts to lead it away from the school and believe the bear has left the immediate area.
