This video series, hosted by Michael Gross, will teach you the simple how-to workshop techniques you need to know to take an HO scale electric train set and make it a scenic model railroad. We'll show you how to build a 4x8 model train table (benchwork) from plywood, lay sections of track, create easy realistic scenery using foam and paint, assemble model buildings, and wire your layout with a DC power pack. When you're done, youll have a railroad that operates well and looks real. Our techniques would work in N, O, S, G, or Z scale also. This video is scene 2, Benchwork part 1 how-to. • The conversation about screws vs nails is a moot point since everything is glued. The nails/screws simply hold everything till the glue dries. In theory you could take them out after the glue is dry. ..... nobody would, but you could.

  • @ModelloursWorkshop I'm not expert at all, but isn't their a reason to use nails over screws?, - heat expansion, nails can expand and contract with room temperature better than screws, of course if you did the job professionally you would leave "expansion gaps". Not certain on this but just a thought?

  • The use of nails in this video should be replaced by screws. Pre-drill holes with a drill so the plywood don't split... YOU NEVER USE NAILS FOR INDOOR WOODWORK!!!

  • Well, Leon, I agree. Just finished assembling it. I did a bit, then put it down ... then did a bit more, then put it down .... BUT, a good thing did come of it. I FINALLY purchased a cordless drill/driver. What a difference THAT made!

  • @NurseyNancy thanks.

  • @LEON13858 I bought a ping pong table (5' x 10') and it works fine, but assembling the table from scratch was a bummer.

  • how much did it cost all together to build this? not tools just materials???

  • what is the name that you use polystyrene?

  • @qomarguy yes

  • can you put thomas
