1979 was a great time for Dean Guitars

Some of Rocks' greatest bands played Dean guitars, such as: Kansas, ZZ Top, Heart, The Doobie Brothers, Triumph, The Cars, Pantera, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, and the list goes on.

Dean Guitars would like to officially introduce the New '79 Series Guitars. These beauties are built to the original specs of the original 1979 Deans which are now collectibles on the open market. The '79 series uses the Series 2 headstock, larger than the time capsule, and has the same look and feel as their predecessors of the seventies. This was the SAME GUITAR that ZZ TOP recorded their Eliminator Record!

The '79 V features the same hot electronics and striking visuals that made Dean a household name in the late 70's. Dual humbuckers, stop tailpiece and vintage 3-way switching. Get a piece of the real thing!

  • is this really a v79? or is it a vx? i have a vx, and its a brazilliaburst, just like this one, and everything else looks identical....

  • yes it is for ertain a Dean V79 in Brazillaburst finish. The wood, pickups and hardware are much better on the V79 than on the cheaper VX model.

  • hey, im thinkin of buyin a new guitar, should i go for the 79 ml, a bc rich mockingbird special or an epiphone les paul custom

  • depends on what much genre you want to play. A LP will not give you the same tone as a BC or ML, etc. If you are going for metal get a BC or ML

  • Hey guys

I just bought a dean v 79. theres one problem which disturbs me a lot.

The paint on the fingerboard on the upper 6 frets is already gone. What can I do to stop that?

Is there any kind of oil or something?

    Btw Ive got a very heavy gauge .070 .050 .038 .017 .012 .010

  • There is usually not paint on fretboard and it is usually just varnished rosewood. At the store we use lemon oil or fretboard conditioner (which is really just lemon oil) to keep the fretboard fresh looking. Lemon oil conditions the wood and keps it from dying out.
