They're a bunch of old men now, but they can still rock with the best. Los Lobos, the East L.A. band that rose out of the barrio to worldwide acclaim, returned to Taos for the ninth annual Solar Music Festival Friday through Sunday (June 29, 30, July 1) — and The Taos News Media Center camera was there.
Following a torrential downpour, the band showed up as the audience was climbing out of makeshift shelters, dancing in the mud and smiling gleefully in the beautiful amber glow of a Taos sunset. We had a chance to sit down in a teepee backstage with Louie Pérez, who does drums, guitar, percussion and vocals, just minutes before the band walked out on-stage to thunderous applause.
Pérez said he considers it a badge of honor for these gentlemen to have been around for more than 30 years, staying together through all sorts of life changes during which they all grew up, had families and became men. Yet, among all that they hung onto their vision as artists. Still immensely popular, the band regularly plays Europe and beyond, never changing a thing despite differences in language and customs.

God Bless you guys. Lobos are the best in the world. they wear it w/ such modesty and humbleness.
I started listening to them in 1983 and haven't stopped since.
