  • Thanks for posting this video!! This song has a bluesy feel to it. Is it blues or is it jazz? Maybe it's both. And 2 piano players. Wow! I'm surprised this video has so few comments. I think this video is solid gold not only because of the singing & musicians but also because of its cultural markers. I'm referring to things like Lena's style of dancing to the faster tempo part of the music & the cigarette in one of the piano player's mouths during the performance. Lena was so special. RIP.

  • Disabling ratings and moderating? What are you from China? You'd have had a thumbs up and some booty kissing, but instead I'll simply say thanks.

  • Angel singing the blues. (Ya gotta love the 40's). This thing is haunted. A real anthem of the southland.

Off another clip from the session(?) they give it as Teddy Wilson's Band and Lena Horne with Emmett Berry (trumpet, Benny Morton (trombone), Jimmy Hamilton (clarinet), Johnny Williams (bass) and J.C. Heard (drums) with "Unlucky Woman", The second pianist is Pete Johnson.

    Hi!

I don't think it's Basie on second piano - looks a bit like Errol Garner too - but it's not him either!

  • Lena was so beautiful and her voice was amazing! It's great that this video captures her when she was so young and full of energy. Her participation in the civil rights movement is inspiring.
