This is a alternative first encounter. That command did not recieve and was never notified before they found out about the flood. Nobody survived! Happy story isn't it?

Also, do you know the sotry of Noah's Ark.
They built the ship to protect life from the FLOOD.
In halo3 the Ark protects you from the flood as well!

now that i think about it, good point.

the flood is horribly overrated. Their only strength is that they reproduce quickly, but since they can only create one combat form per dead body they discover, that has limits. When you consider how badly they suck at fighting that's just not enough.

naw ithink theyre called the flood cuz theyre so many of them its like a flood especially the little ones like u said. and how can u fight against a flood, pretty hard to stop dont ya think, hence their name
