Part VII of beginner's method - Last Layer step 4, permuting the edges.

(My first tutorial by request, so I know it's not the best, I may make a revision later. This is a very, very basic beginner method, but serves as a good foundation for progressing onto more advanced methods later. More advanced tutorials will be following shortly!)

Congratulations for making it this far, this is the FINAL STEP of the beginner's method to solving a Rubik's Cube! The goal of this step is to move the edges to their correct places, resulting in a solved cube.

***NOTES

- Really make sure you can solve the cube up to this point consistently before attempting.

- Once again, I show you one move that can be repeated to move the edges to their right places. Line up the corners first. Then, find a complete side (if any) and face the cube so that that side is on your left. Then, check to see which way the edges move.

- This move cycles three edges clockwise. In notation form:

R2 U F B' R2 B F' U R2 .

This seems very convoluted, so refer to the video for a visual demonstration. After a while, this move is not difficult at all.

- Since this move cycles those three edges clockwise, the move may need to be repeated several times until you encounter that specific case.

- If you do not see a complete face on any side, or all four edges are in the incorrect place, just perform the move, and it will reduce the case to one with a complete side.

- I will cover the other possible cases in a later video. For now, just repeat that move, facing the cube the correct way, and you should be able to solve it.

- You should end up with a complete cube. If so, CONGRATULATIONS! I hope you enjoyed this process.

____________________________________

Afterword.

- If you have followed through the video series, you should be able to solve a cube consistently now! With this method, you can get around 30 seconds to 1 minute. I average around 27 seconds using this beginner's method.

- Really try to understand this method in and out. Try new moves, and see if you can get faster by figuring out more of it on your own. You can even try to develop your own finger shortcuts.

- I really hope some of you would want to delve deeper into different methods, and so become faster.

- Keep practicing this method, and check out the followup videos I will post later. If there are competitions in your area, go spectate or even compete yourself! It's a great experience.

- Try timing yourself, or even teaching others! I hope to see some of you attending or even competing in competitions!

- Once again, direct any questions to me. This is my first tutorial series, and I know some parts may be hard to understand! So any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

- Thanks for watching, I hope you had a great time learning!

  • what happend to that old video you had where it was like a 10.36 solve + how to or something. I like that one back in my slower days :P

  • Oh that one I removed a while ago, since too many people were thinking it was pre setup XD

So in that case I'll probably remake a video in the future, but with example solves instead of just one scramble
