The Wild Geese is a British 1978 film about a group of mercenaries in Africa. It stars Richard Burton, Roger Moore, Richard Harris and Hardy Krueger. The film was the result of a long-held ambition of its producer Euan Lloyd to make an all-star adventure film similar to The Guns of Navarone or Where Eagles Dare.

The black thugs of Africa aren't worth the heroic blood of white men - ever. I much preferred the heroism of white soldiers against the savage hordes of Southern Africa, in the tenderly touching final slaughter of 5000 bongo-crazed spearchuckers in "Zulu".

Ironically the very person his character saves dies later. A horrible nasty voilent film and sadly this stuff still happens in 2011.

Think what you like but for me this scene was hard hitting because its message was that even a racist can have a change of heart and come to love the black person he so hated!!
