Another common question when it comes to panic disorder is can panic attacks cause fainting? Due to certain symptoms that may indicate near fainting like hyperventilating, panic attacks and fainting have been thought to be related. Information to this is important and a thorough understanding needs to be known so as not to cause more panic.

For a person suffering in a panic attack, there is a fear that may cause the person to have shortness in breathing and this may cause hyperventilation. The person may suddenly have the feeling of lightheadedness and confusion which they often associate with fainting.

One must know that when a panic attack happens, this may take and last for thirty minutes or less. The feeling of fainting may happen at the start of the panic attack but this seldom occurs. In fainting, a person lacks oxygen that circulates in the brain. And the time for a panic attack is less for this to even occur.

Can panic attacks cause fainting? Sometimes it can, but only because the person has fainted due to a dissimilar medical reason. If a situation like this happens the person should consult a doctor right away since the fainting spell might be the cause of having low blood pressure or another cause.

When a person in an episode faints, he should be left in the same place so as not to cause panic when he wakes up. As this may cause another seizure to happen when the person who has fainted starts to regain consciousness and realizes he's in a different location.

Stopping the hyperventilation can be a good way to stop the fainting and an episode altogether. Certain meditations and exercises that control breathing may help not only in relaxing the person but in halting the feeling of dizziness and fainting as well.

Those who suffer from panic attacks worry about fainting, but this rarely happens. This is a common worry during an attack. After succeeding or consecutive attacks, the feeling may possibly go away since fainting doesn't happen. If you have a separate case of hyperventilation, try to breathe into a paper bag in order to replace the lack of carbon dioxide in your body.

Others, who actually faint may also suffer from a different condition like a viral infection, an allergy, anemia, sinusitis and low blood sugar levels, these are wholly separate from a panic attack and can be treated over time.

A person who understands situations of a panic attack can be a big help since other people perceive it as nothing but drama and may look funny to them. This is a situation that should not be taken lightly. The person going through an episode thinks and feels that what is happening to them is real.

So to address the question if suffering from a panic attack may cause fainting, then the answer is a NO. If fainting does happen then there might be a different condition other than the panic attack and you should have yourself checked medically.
