The only Stiffelio I've ever seen is the MET production with Domingo. But in my opinion Carreras(whom I edited out of my 3 tenors recordings because I so disliked his singing)is wonderful here, eclipsing Domingo. He is also my all time favorite Don Jose in Carman. where he was phenomanal.

He did more Bel Canto work in his early years than people think -- including his Rossini Otello. I give this clip the highest rating!

fyi-Met cast recently changed as Ms. Marambio withdrew. Sondra Radvanovsky sings Lina Jan. 11,14 plus 30th(Sat. broadcast). Julianna Di Giacomo sings the other 3 Lina's. Two Amercian gals came to the rescue! Mr. Cura stays in the title role.

Reply to cmorgan's comment - just had to thank you for your honesty and for giving Carreras another try! Many folks only judge him by his performance with the 3 Tenors. I am learning, myself, to give singers several tries, listening to several performances and not just one or two.
