Scorching Sand
Part 2 of 2

The eighth speed run in a series of levels.

The goal of the complete run is to use a firemoth only where allowed, therefore times may be improved in larger mechs, however that is not the goal.

This mission I have had great difficulty with, recording trouble you name it...
So I have attempted to do my best and survive in one peice in this recording more than anything.

I had a better time 8:52 prior to this one, but it did not get recorded unfortuneatly. With a larger mech this mission could be probably done in 4 min if the mech was fast enough.

The most trouble I had was with the elementals, normally those are not an issue, but in a firemoth they are a big problem! Elementals for those who are unaware are men/women in Battlesuits who in MechWarrior 2 are extremely difficult to hit without a large mech.

The Completion time by game time is 9:27

  • @hehfilms for some reason this particular video does look terrible, but the game typically had much better graphics than this. there were like 5 different versions of the non-expansion mechwarrior 2.

  • @angeloCOZ good^

  • fuck this game was gppd!

  • @fourbarposer Except for the fact that "better" is subjective and was beside my point that this game looks like shit.

  • @hehfilms And what? I was trying to explain how it's possible that old game with simple graphics can look better than new game with lots of detail. In this particular video I'd highlight the color/palette of the terrain/mountains, very effective. I used to play lot of flight simulators and the graphics just got worse over time because even as details and resolution increased, the palettes became much more boring as they prob. attempted to match some not too compelling but realistic photos.

  • @fourbarposer And?

  • @hehfilms System Shock 1 looks better than 2. Civilization 1 looks better than 5. etc. Graphics are very much about shapes and colors/palette. With larger resolution, while more detail may be added, it can also end up revealing a lack of detail. Favorite example: Hand painted details/scenes could look pretty nice in 320x200 in many old games as details were perfected pixel by pixel to give perception/impression and allowing imagination to "anti-alias" it by not having peripheral detail in focus.

  • Look at those fucking awesome graphics! Even though we have better now, I can still totally appreciate them.

    Kind of.

    In a way.

    A bit....

    Well, uh....

  • Step 1) Select Nova

    Step 2) Group fire, engaged

    See you later
