That drugs are a facile means of achieving a 'high' is obvious;but it is fallacious to consider the use of drugs as "not on our own". It is absurd to moralize about what is 'natural'. It is easy to imagine behaviors that are more harmful to one's own sense of self than 'drugs'. There is nothing intrinsic about a substance that is either useful or useless; there are stronger or weaker contingencies upon which future behaviors are based. The movie is about 'addiction' not 'drugs'.

I pray for all and any suffering addicts out there. I wouldn't wish the depths of addiction upon my worst enemy (the man who fucked my ex-wife). May love conquer fear and bring our lost brothers and sisters back to sanity.

Mind altering drugs are NOT the same as mind stabilizing drugs. A person with a mental disorder or disability sometimes need to have medications for it. Mind altering drugs CHANGE a 'normal' brain into one that does not work properly.

@allthingshonest So you think all mentally disabled people would do better without drugs? I agree that far to many people are prescribed drugs which they dont need. But I think its taking it a bit too far saying all mind altering drugs are useless.

"Fatcher" you have obviously never been in the merciless grip of drug addiction. Step out of your high school intellectualization of what drugs are and face the fact ALL mind altering drugs are useless. We can achieve much greater highs on our own, most people are just too unimaginative to try.
