Membership site now open: http://retirecheap.tv/members When you spend a limited amount of time hanging out inside a room because it is so cheap to go around and do and see things, then you can really get by with a modest size room that is inexpensive. There are a few things to keep in mind when looking for a place to stay. One of the most important is the bed. Is it comfortable? Another is, does the air work? And the most important so you don't end up with a big bill at the end of the month.

  • @frostyfoord Thanks so much. More to come for sure!

  • There's always an OPTION; I like that, my man!

  • @maryjoemontana Sometimes it's hard to keep that in mind when things are tough. So I think a little reminder might help!

  • What is a reasonable amount to pay per unit for electricity?

  • @lancer89032 Here the electricity is free with the room price. But just know the the cost per unit from the elect. company is about 3.5 Baht per unit.

  • I also keep a laminated business card size full color copy of my photo id passport page and my visa page just in case I need it and carry it at all times. JC

  • Yeah, this seems to be a common practice in these countries. But did you know by law your supposed to carry your passport at all times? You can tell them you will give them a copy. They do need this information because by law the guesthouses and hotels are "supposed" to make a list and submit it showing the foreigners staying there. I Keep copies just for these occasions. I also do not carry my passport because of the fact that if it got stolen or lost I would have big problems.
