A discussion of the biblical story where Jesus invited the young rich man to sell all that he had to gain eternal life.
"If you don't have what you want, then give up what you have, and you'll get what you want! If you don't give up what you have, it tells you that you have already what you want."
A socialist will ask you to give up your life for the good of society, while a Capitalist will invite you to give up your life for your own sake.
@CasamsMgmtGrp I wish I had a tenth of the integrity of Rick Koerber and Dr. Glenn Kimber. I have went into bankruptcy so I didn't have to pay massive debts that were created.
These men have been diligently working to pay their debtors. They never hid their history. They hold no man accountable for their actions. They have been robbed, lied about and yet they never retaliate.
I am NOT that magnanimous or gracious to my fellow man. I find living up to Christian values difficult.

@abolishtheirs We lost over $220,000 but it was not Franklin Squires. Rick Koerber's companies refused our entreaties to join. We lost because we joined those that claimed they were followers. However, when you analyze what Koerber was teaching with what supposed followers were doing IT WAS NOT THE SAME THING. The Division of Securities and the Dept of Real Estate in the State of Utah is as corrupt as one can get.
What does being a disgruntled Mormon have to do with losing money?

And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a arich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

The "Love" of Money is the route of all Evil.
This is why Jesus Christ asks the young man to give it all up, to route out the evil with in the young man, which we find was his "love" for money.

I was raised up as an atheist in China, and learned the term god from the teaching that there was no gods at all.
When I got old enough, I had good wishes. I wish there were gods...at least I tended not to deny the existence of anything when I could not prove nonexistence of it.
One day, something touched my heart that turned me from an atheist to a believer of God in the Holy Bible.
Then, I found that belief and unbelief are just two status of a switch, which is held in the Hand of God.

Thanks for info. I am quite dumb about politics. To me, many Christians in the west love captitalism and I call them captitalist Christians, who are not what Jesus wants.
By the way, are you Christian?

jingvt - I think you're overlooking the fact that very few Christians in America have actually read the bible, and even fewer would literally interpret it. I think it's unfortunate that we still commonly view politics as being bipolar rather than seeing conflict as multi-dimensional. and what i mean by that is that many will identify themselves as republican and just cling to those ideals blindly and it just so happens that those are the people said to, you know, 'love the church' and whatnot.

Everything comes back to self-interest, sure. But paradoxically enough serving others is often in our interests as it makes appeals to strong instincts of empathy to which we nearly all possess. --perhaps that wasn't what he was getting at? i'm not entirely sure.-- I do understand what argument he's making overall though and it's as basic as the idea that 'progress sometimes requires personal sacrifice." hardly a revelation indeed.

Jesus said the money lenders (bankers )would never enter the kingdom of heaven . He quit his job and traveled around helping the poor and sick and never was given anything but food for his trouble . Hmmmm does that sound like capitalism ? Pure capitalism is absolutely Darwinist . The big corporations eat the small ones until only one remains , the same would apply to countries , people etc . Soon the result is 1% rich 99 % slaves , and we are getting closer to this each day !!
