Timmins is nice, but I would say Sudbury is way better... We never get booms or busts, because there is a constant demand for nickel in the world.
-
Timmins probably isn't much different than Sault Ste. Marie. We're up when everyone else is down, or we're down when everyone else is, economically, up.... It seems we're SO dependant on resources, though... Still lovin' Northern Ontario, though!

Timmins sucks ass, it's just a little french shit hole in northern ontario. I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT.

@Hammersmashedface09 Yeah i grew up in Shumacher. Peice of shit teachers. Every older kids was a crazed phycopath. WE all had GUNS. But your right as to the douchbags i seen alot of those, But ususaly just plain old scumbags seem to be the norm there.

It's too bad that they didn't do their research more thoroughly. Timmins WAS built on gold and some 40 years ago, we were in a slump. But I started my work career at that time and had NO problems getting a job. Why? The Kidd Creek mine opened, and it's a BASE METAL mine that's STILL in operation.
And yes, gold is up and Timmins IS booming. Timmins has, essentially, everything you could want. A multi screen movie theater, great restaurants, along with the usual cast of fast food places.

We have one of the best police forces in Canada. Get stopped for any reason and you're treated like a person with courtesy and dignity. We have one of the finest hospitals anywhere, with, (minor exceptions) world class doctors and nurses. I can say from personal experience, the world famous Mayo Clinic is no better and in some aspects, far worse.

We have a multitude of clubs of all stripes. Any activity you can name, Timmins offers it in spades. Including sports, from hockey, to soccer, to baseball to yes, the best d*mn hunting and fishing you could ask for.
And the people are just the best. We're having a bad blueberry season because of a late frost that killed the blossoms so not much good picking nearby. However, one of the guys at the old Malette Lumber site tipped me off that the berries are to be had down Gibson lake road.

Also, south of Matheson, down the Watabeag road should net you a couple of baskets in just a few hours. And if you don't feel like picking them, there are always roadside stands that offer fresh picked, NATURAL berries at reasonable prices.
THIS is the kind of community spirit we have in Timmins. Come up and take in the Shania Twain center. YES, Timmins is her home town. She gave a concert some five years ago and it was a blast. And of course, there's the Gold Mine tour.

Global TV and all mainstream media don't have a clue, do they. "The inevitable day that gold prices drop" What an idiot.
So, look what happened. At the time this video was posted, gold was about 750 dollars an ounce. It peaked at 1256.00 in June, an all time high, dipped a bit and is now at 1234.50
Who writes this stuff? They should be consulting Peter Schiff, Gerald Celente, Congressman Ron Paul, Max Keiser, Jim Rogers, ALL who have called it exactly right for the last ten years.
