  • turn 2!

  • That a compliment?

  • oh i was just saying that turn 2 has been disputed in simulations of the period, as to it's proper shape, and here we can see it!

this is a great film btw :)

  • Ah, I see, thanks! Most interesting. Didn't know that, & glad to help.

Kyalami was a great circuit, and in retirement I've become a driving simulator enthusiast. Does Kyalami appear on any, and if so, what platform? I'm into GT4 on PS2, and Forza2 on X-Box.

Some more olf F1 on YouTube recently, and some more to come: search for DrBGW.

    Best,

    Brian

  • Yes, I've always suspected that Barbecue bend hasn't been accurately profiled on the simulations. It should be flat, I think, but you can't take it flat on GPL or rFactor.

Anyway, thanks for posting this, it's fantastic !

  • @iestyn16 rFactor's F1 1979 mod has a great Kyalami

  • ive seen kyalami on a PSP, think it was TOCA.

  • Great video and slow-mo drifting.

F1 drivers these days all seem to be about 22 years old - times have changed since '71

  • Shame you have excluded the projector noise. The projector noise is part of the cine era!!!!!!

  • search for sports car gt the rock in your web browser and follow instructions from there

  • But i'm absolutely sure you'd love to drive kya in a 69 or 66 car hehe ;) gpl and rfactor are on PC.

cool, i've had GT games and they're great fun! not been able to play forza yet but it has positive reviews.

  • The track isn't perfectly 100% accurate though, and altitude reduced power isn't simulated, so lap times can be a few seconds quicker. If they had this sort of footage though, i'm sure a super accurate track could be produced but i'm afraid this could be in the future for historical simracing reasons..

  • Ahh! Good to hear hehe i'm always up for watching old f1 vids, they really are amazing.

Kya appears in GPL, which simulates f1 seasons 65,(67) and 69, with 66 to come, and rFactor which can simulate 79.. these are on computer and the original gpl67 is a very hard game. The soon to be released 66mod will be a great 2007 standard simulation with every car used in that season included!
