Right, nothing can detect laser prior but laser also has to hit you directly. There are some videos on here of guys decking their car out with "laser-deflecting" tape and a bunch of other garb. In 6 months of owning this, I've been hit twice with laser, thankfully both times with cars around me so hard to nail. Besides that, it's definitely saved me from at least 4 guaranteed tickets. Sometimes I smile when it goes off.... highly recommend this detector, it's your friend.

if you get hit with laser you done
laser is only a quick shot of infared beam
unless they shoot u 2 times with laser then u a chance to slow down otherwise u toast
