  • i bet roofers don't do half the things mentioned here.

  • there is a 2 inch strip of plastic on the backside of each shingle. Is this strip suppose to be removed when installing?

No it's there as non stick strip for expansion. Keep them in place unless they are already loose. Keep them on the shingles. It says right on it, "not to remove"

  • They give the Title ELITE to any1 that watches their demo and takes their course.I can tell you that just because they arent certified with GAF doesnt make the a great roofer. And just because they are a class A contractor doesnt make them better than a C. To get a quality job, get someone that specializes in roofing. Not someone that subs the work out. They pay peanuts and you get what THEY paid for,not what you paid for.Bigger co. is NOT always better.

  • Hey 123 . Have you ever installed a roof? Well, I have for 18 years. Watching these videos is what makes customers believe they know more about roofing than the contractor does. These are good for suggestions.Thats it. Youre right we dont do as the vids do.We pop lines EVERY course. Not evry 6.That insures the WHOLE roof is straight not just 1 out of 6.So keep watchin and do as they do and I will always have repair work to do.Thanks!!

  • Update, the GAF Master Elite Contractor, no longer uses that title on his website. He had the title on his contract but not a GAF ID no. The contractor clearly commited Home Improvement Fraud, however if I file a claim with the PA Attorney General, I am guaranteed to a slow tortorous cog wheel grinding that keeps this in limbo.

  • There is only one master GAF Elite roofer in Doylestown PA. 18901. His has/had 13 claims against him in the local court house. Several still open and he asks for a jury trial as a delay tactic.

  • @Anon5K Why are they "unnamed"? Name them!

  • last time i saw some1 use a hammer like that was when i started roofing 40 yrs ago wheres your compressors and guns and you show about a 9/12 pitch roof but when you start your on a 4 /12 maybe even a 3/12where you at with that beed of tar at the start fl?and last why didnt you replace the deck that shit looked ancient ?

  • Was ripped off by an unamed!!!!! Construction Company who used an illegal uninsured ringer subcontractor.

They claim they are a GAF “Master Elite” contractor. on their contracts.

  • Its just to keep the shingles from fusing together at the tarline when they are stacked on top of each other. Removing them achieves nothing but make a mess.
