LIGERS - They do exist!

- - - Half LION - - - Half TIGER = LIGER! They are not a mythical creature they DO exist!

This is a quick introduction to one of our newest rescues - Freckles the LIGER! Freckles was rescued along with Alex and Cookie her tiger companions from a failed sanctuary formerly known as Cougar Haven in Mississippi. All 3 cats have been in quarantine for the past few months to allow them to get used to their new home.

Now they are comfortable and doing well they are on the tour path at Big Cat Rescue, watch as Director of Operations Scott Lope feeds Freckles allowing you to get a good look at her different features.

@BigCatRescue ligers and tigers cannot mate..and tigon and lion cannot mate...its a mixbread like a horse and a donky makes a mule but mules cannot mate.

@MshortWitt18 Mules are totally different. Horses have 64 chromosomes and donkeys have 62 chromosomes. If horse and donkey mate, 64/2 chromosomes are given from the horse, and 62/2 chromosomes are given from the donkey. Because 32+31 is an odd number, mules are sterile (their chromosomes cannot evenly divide).
