A compilation of 3 or four days of hawking with my apprentice, Matt, and his first bird, Kitana.

Matt is 16 and is new to Falconry. He trained a dog, Rascal, last year to help flush rabbits.

Through the time I have known him he has become a much more mature guy and his falconry has come a long way!

  • @hazardousnic Hope you got some more information about falconry I would suggest looking up your local club and go to a meet... easy to find a sponsor when your old enough to drive (16) and have enough time and money... ;P

  • Putting food on the table is where the art of falconry gets a little dirty, goshawks can quickly fill up a freezer and put food on the table, they dont care how they catch prey. It is up to the falconer to make things sporting, frequently the best flights are where nothing is caught but the bird tried hard and missed. The birds get to eat what they catch, so it is mostly for their table, If we were interested in meat we would get a gun, it is much more efficient.
