S-500 Samoderzhets (Autocrat) -- С-500 Самодержец

The S-500 is a new generation surface-to-air missile system, designed for intercepting intercontinental ballistic missiles and for defense against Airborne Early Warning and Control and jamming aircraft.

With a planned range of 600 km (373 mi), the S-500 would be able to detect and simultaneously engage up to 10 ballistic supersonic targets flying at a speed of 5 km/s[3][4] and will have a flight ceiling of 40 km.

It can if it has to. That would depend on the associated radar systems. But like I wrote previously, it's main role is anti-missile defence. The S-300 + S-400 are more suited for anti-aircraft defence.

they can and they practice on exercises. But they haven't been used in a real war yet.

@Sekorspb Topol M has inpredicatble re-entry path even Russians cant predict re-entry path as was shown couple of years back when they fired a missile and with data they had tried to intercept it they failed. Moreover Topol M has numerous decoys so its impossible to defend against it once its launched all you can do is wait for destrouction.

@Sekorspb So... I think in case of war they destroy all ours С-300-400-500 systems nuclear traidents. And further will go under the fulfilled scheme: tomahawks, bombardment from the big heights, next А-10 and helicopters, next tanks

So...Best defense - is attack. Better instead of "S-500" to make the Topol-M

And let they think as to defence from our warheads with uranium-238 falling with space with a speed 9km/sek.

So war between USA and Russia is impossible. Newest Aegis combat system with newest missiles SM-3 also can not intercept Russians ICBMs like Topol-M, which not too fast but also it is separate to many warheads and each of its maneuvering.

One way to intercept it is only on start phase, but it is impossible because you will not come to distance for few minutes needed to lunch it.

Today S-400 can intercept 36 targets at the moment. Max speed of the target 4.8 km/s.Max radius of intercepting air targets - 400 km(radar see its on 600 km) and 60 km for ICBM. Max height - 30 km.

S-500 will intercept targets with speed up to 7 km/s and radius of radar about 750-800 km.

ICBM with speed what you are talking about should be intercept by principally other systems, not like Patriot or S-300-400-500. And RUS and USA still do not have real working systems to intercept it.

How far is the S500 from completion? The S300 had no match.If am not mistaken an Serbian version was used to shoot down a stealth over Serbia.Then S400 arrived and again no match.

Have to say, the Russian really know how to make these things.
