Project Management Tips 1: How NOT to Plan a Project

The point being made to me was that things like planning and control occur throughout a project, just like quality. If quality is treated as a phase - ie the testing team become responsible for quality alone you will not achieve quality - since quality is built in through the entire process. Thus planning and control should also be occuring throughout a project. What he is saying is that you should plan phases of the project based on the problem domain. Quite sensible to me.

Suggestions for improved production: use a lavalier microphone or get very close to the speaker to eliminated poor echoey sound. Then use an external light to properly illuminate the subject and use a good tripod designe for video to eliminate bounces and jerks. Your subject matter deserves good production techniques.

Very helpful. The Project Management functions are not phases but are part of every part of the life cycle. Very clear presentation!!! Answered my questions.
I found this vid very helpful to understand why I am having a hard time with my PM class. I am a software engineer and I was having a problem separating the software development phases with the management phases. Thanks!

Ammar - Thank you for posting. Even though I do this every day, it is always good to refresh or hear someone else's approach! I would not hire a project manager who believes they know it all and aren't constantly looking to improve, validate and share their base of knowledge.
