Another radio story... I suspect in retrospect that these could be the people that I kicked out some weeks ago...

  • Shit.... when they want the radio on.... Just say every song that plays is one of your favorites.... and sing with every song.....

  • Oy... Imagine it's your least favorite radio station that goes on your nerves the most. I had some boys in the cab the other night, and they chose THE WORST radio station there is. After two blocks I shut the radio off, saying that I can't fucking stand it. Then they asked me a bunch of irrelevant personal questions, the answers to which are none of their business, and then I asked them what they get out of pushing all my wrong buttons and pissing me off...

  • So one of them came along and said that I'm providing a service and the customer is always right, and what's the car number and cab company...

To that I said, "My name s Andreas Tovornik, this is Victoria Taxi Car 61, go ahead! Complain! Make my day!!!"

And then something amazing happened. We established a rapport, and they were more like friends than like haters for the rest of the way...

I didn't even need to resort to pulling over and asking them if they would rather walk...

  • You see, lots of people, especially young adults and adolescents, are unsure of themselves. They lack the confidence necessary and ability to be happy from within themselves. So in order for them to make themselves think that they feel better, they need to pick on someone else and make that someone feel bad in order to try and make themselves feel a bit better. I'm sure they feel marvellous

    after I kick them out...

  • Anyway, after sixteen years in the business, you'll have to trust me on this one, a request to turn on the radio NEVER reflects a desire to hear music. It reflects a desire to feel better with the erroneous assumption that this will happen if you make someone else (the driver) pissed off. Most people (thankfully)

don't ask to play the radio...

  • Oh yeah... Two more shifts and I'm going for a little vacation. I should be in better shape when I get back in early May :)

  • It's especially distracting when the customers try to talk over it. Then you get the annoying radio and the annoying people yelling louder than the radio... I have enough to concentrate on without it...

  • That works only sometimes...

  • LOL I gave up on TV when I started on YouTube...

  • Hmmm Been a long time since I played chess...
