Seeing the sights in Egypt is amazing...especially when
a proposition arises for a five camel exchange for my wife at the Sphinx. Bargain hard....

I am glad you had a good time, and are having fun with jokes. But from a Muslim perspective, esp. from those living in USA, insults are often hurled at our religion by the extremist political factions of Christians. Yes, Quran does "allow" up to 4 wives, but discourages it with strict requirement that ea. be treated equally. Since this is a near-impossible standard to meet, actually very few men can do so. My husband, from South of Alexandria, says very FEW men have more than one wife.

The camel guy was trying to feed his hungry family with proceeds of honest work offering rich American tourists camel rides. At 40% unemployment rate I am sure he didn't want to take in another mouth to feed. How disrespectful to this poor guy. He probably loves his one and only wife very much. Even though I know Arabic, I couldn't make out what he said, but it probably that he had several camels that she could choose from to ride.

...If you watch our videos, you will see that most of them are tongue-in-cheek. The people of Egypt always had a great sense of humor. . This camel guy at the Sphynx hung around tourists. He was verbally toying with us. . Yet we have read, at the time, 1995 that the people hanging around tourist traps, were trying to make money by taking your picture. He wanted us to give him the camera, and was too persistent As New York Cityers...that was the last thing we were going to do.

Part 2...Response.
Also..speaking to many Egyptians during our stay, they told us that it was common for men to have about 4 wives. It was both tradition, and they could have more children. In conclusion, we were responding to him playing with the exchanging camels for a wife myth...It was a joke...ha..ha..ha
