Some people with Bipolar Disorder don't experience depressive episodes. Those who do can experience episodes lasting as long as several weeks, even months. Because I have been experiencing rapid cycling my episodes of depression and mania have been lasting a matter of days. This was a perfect opportunity to take a break from the boring stuff and show the nitty gritty of the disorder. I have two forms of depression, agitation & irritation with continuous weeping & sobbing- shown here, and the mind numbing catatonic state.

  • You are so brave. You have helped me more than you know. Thank you.

  • @jsfueston1 Thank you and you're welcome. Glad I could be helpful.

  • Is this type of depression something genetic that you're born with or can anyone develop it at anytime in their life? I've had depression off and on over the last several years that has gotten progressively worse over the last year or so. I am positive some things that happened fairly recently exacerbated it but it is also something physical I am sure causing it. I am at the end of my rope here. I hope someone has some good info on this.

  • @paperpusher75 Bipolar depression does tend to be different than depression that you see in unipolar depression - that's people with just depression and no hypomania or mania. Both are mood disorders. Studies show that mood disorders have a genetic component, that it runs in families. Sometimes something seems to trigger the depression & sometimes it seems to come all on its own. Stress can trigger or exacerbate symtpoms. Do I sound like a book?

  • uh oh... I feel a jag coming on

  • @Aphasia17 Let 'er rip. Except for the enormous sinus headache, I always feel so much better after a good jag.
