New Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNWJKZUHFak&feature=channel_page
This is a video of a student game current in development called Igneous, which is a junior level game from DigiPen Institute of Technology
This build is completely different from our Alpha build. The game used to be focused on combat, with the player manipulating a bunch rocks that floated around him to destroy lava enemies. While the combat stuff was fun for what it was, we didn't think it would be good enough for our ambitions, so we scraped it. You can find a video of that build in my channel.
The direction we're taking it now is more run-for-your-life while lava and stuff tries to kills you (think Dino Run but in 3D with full-blown graphics and physics), but the overall concept remains the same, to escape from the volcano.
Anyway, we have a month left of work to do for the "Gold" release, which is the end of our current class, but we'll be working throughout the summer, up until November for a much more polished version to submit to IGF.
So let me know what you think!
BTW: This is just one successful run through. It normally takes quite a while for someone to actually make it to the end, this video just makes it look really easy =D.
More levels to come!

sorry... what type of games would "those" games be?

Rolling with some marble like object along some track - chased or not - looks pretty much the same - Marble Madness, Balance et cetera

fair enough, but I'd hope that our emphasis on physics would help us stand out a bit.
