One of my favorite Connie records. The other side of this single is "Who's Sorry Now", Connie's first big hit (#4 Hot 100, #4 R&B, #1 UK). This song had charted at #16 for Kay Starr in December 1948 (which I've also posted), #9 for Blue Barron and His Orchestra in July 1948 and #8 for the Ink Spots in December 1948 (#15 R&B). Later, it charted at #30 for Vic Damone in April 1965 (#8 Adult Contemporary). Although this side didn't chart nationally for Connie, it did chart in the Top 25 locally in Albany, New York in April 1958. The single was released in November 1957.

Original Billboard review: "Good chirping effort by the artist on the old tune with rhythm backing featuring listenable guitar and chorus. It could create interest." Billboard rating: 75 out of 100.

Written by Billy Faber, Larry Fotine and Fred Meadows.

  • Definitely an exceptional singer. I defy anyone to listen to Connie's "Melody Of Love" and not be moved. Just terrific.

  • @Isrek1 Thanks for commenting, Isrek!

  • Thanks for the upload. I love sentimental songs....but we believed in true love, marriage and all that went with it.

  • @Wordsmith37 I love sentimental songs too.

  • Great, great early Connie! Her unique voice and style lend a certain quality to all that she sings, almost as if done in another dimension! My personal all time favourite female singer. Thanks for this wonderful post!

  • @azw596 She's one of my very favorite singers too! You're welcome!

  • A marvelous song by Connie. Serious but uppity at the same time. Thankyou Wrdane. JUDA59ful

  • I prefer Vaughn Monroe on this one, which is the one my gal and I listened to alot.

  • I love this song! - it is an oldie, and love Connie singing it. Thanks for sharing. Gwen

  • @lateforbreakfast As you mentioned, this is one of those Connie records that seldom turns up for some reason, but it's one of my favorites.

  • Oh Yes!! great upload...I haven't heard this song by Connie since the 50's...I have several of Connie's CD's but this track never seems to turn up on them...Connie Francis was the queen of rock -n-roll and the dame of ballads..What a talent.
