  • Peter Gethin racing driver, was born 21-2-40.

    He died on 5-12-11, aged 71. Drove for BRM in the early 1970’s.

    In the Italian Grand Prix at Monza in 1971. Driving a BRM, he set a

    record for the fastest average speed in F1 history; 150.755 mph. It

    was not to be broken until Michael Schumacher surpassed it with his

    speed of 153.84 mph in 2003.
