Still the best looking trains after more than 10 years and a crumby yellow UP patch job.

  • the only SP locomotives i can remember seeing are AC4400CWs, its weird. i can't remember any of them being patched either. i live in on the old L&N(now CSX) in middle tennessee, so that probably explains it. i used to see UP all the time before the economy started sucking ass

  • Cajon Pass???

  • I took the SP 9794 from Houston to Hearne back in January. It was in rock service at the time bringing loaded rock to Houston from somewhere up north.

  • SP 9794, if you can find it, is unpatched. It's a GP60, the last 4-axle GP ever built.

  • There are still about 60 locomotive still in Southern Pacific livery without any patches on them, So they are rare to see them.

  • Too bad Union Pacific didn't put their unit numbers in Southern Pacific & CNW colors.

  • I hate that Union Pacific has repainted so many of the ex-SP locos into UP colors(and/or covered up the 'SP' on the front of the locos w/the UP symbol). :(

Though I remember seeing a recent video somewhere on youtube(can't remember what user posted it) filmed in the last year, where there was an ex-SP loco that still hadn't had been repainted....

  • primo!
