The story of the first game of the epic Legacy of Kain series (Updated)

The Pillars of Nosgoth -
The nine pillars represent and control the most fundamental elements of Nosgoth, eight of the pillars represent a singular aspect whilst the ninth keeps them all in balance. The Pillars are each served by a guardian who inherits certain affinities and abilities relating to their given Pillar.
Should a guardian be killed they are immediately replaced by a successor born from the population of Nosgoth, but are otherwise immortal.

The Pillar of the Mind -- Nupraptor the Mentalist
The Pillar of Dimension -- Azimuth the Planer
The Pillar of Conflict -- Malek the Paladin
The Pillar of Nature -- Bane the Druid
The Pillar of Energy -- Dejoule the Energist
The Pillar of Time -- Moebius the Timestreamer
The Pillar of States -- Anacrothe the Alchemist
The Pillar of Death -- Mortanius the Necromancer
The Pillar of Balance -- Ariel the um? Balance Guardian.


There was a whole load of stuff to restore to this story, I've added all the spells and abilities, more dialogue from the citizens of Nosgoth as well as area descriptions and snuck in a few cameos here and there.
The only part of my original videos that I've reused for these new ones is the opening FMVs.
Despite all the extras I've added to the vids I've still not included the cheesy speech from the opening (but I have included it after the closing titles as a bonus however).
2:42 Had the camera panned lower to the ground when we see the pillars becoming corrupt who would we have seen there?
3:34 Is it just me or does that first assassin sound like Baldrick?
The realm where Kain meets Mortanius would probably be Raziel's spectral realm but seen as a fiery hell through Kain's eyes.
Due to their epic poetic nature I've reintroduced all of the spells/items/abilities and their descriptions, if they are not used straight away they are named when they first are.
Hopefully I've made the fights look better this time around, there was a definite lack of skill in my first vids including the occasional obvious use of cheats.
I do sometimes swap the audio around a bit to make it fit better, especially now that I've added a lot more voice overs.
Those must have been some vicious stabs to have removed half of Ariel's face like that.

To fit in with the plot elements from the final game Kain's fatal stab wound would most likely be straight through his heart (so it can be replaced). At this stage they would not have planned for it so the sword is through the center of his chest. His scar tends to move around from game to game but is correctly placed by Defiance.

I love the Legacy of Kain series, but I am not an expert about it at all. Is there a connection between the necromancer and the octopus from Soul Reaver and Defiance? because it at least seems to be the same voice actor.

@ibstrd It is the same VA, the sadly departed Tony Jay but the only connection between the characters is a thematic one. Both act as guides/voices from above to the main characters at the start of their quests after having raised them from death. As both Mortanius and the Elder God both appeared in Defiance, Mortanius was given a new VA (Alastair Duncan) to avoid confusion (Coincidently he is married to Ariel's VA Anna Gunn).

Tony Jay is dead? :o I love the legacy series. Sad shame such quality has died out. I would look forward to a good old prelude to Raziel when he was still a vampire and also a there on after of Kain when Raziels soul is inside his blade :P
