Here is my cold start video of my 1996 1.7TD Astravan with 163,000miles on the clock. It's about 0 degrees when I'm starting it off of one glow plug heat cycle
You can notice the age of the engine when you hear the valve gear rattling away to begin with. This goes away though as soon as you rev and get sufficient oil pressure to fill the tappets fully.
Hopefully one day I can manage to post a video of a cold start of my pick up if I ever manage to get one, I'd love a Powerstroke Ford or a Cummins engined Ram. If only Fuel, Insurance and Tax weren't so dear in this bloody country!
