The last stage of Alex Kidd. It's awkward, but manage to get through it with a little effort, somehow.

I only came to this stage and the last boss once, otherwise i used to die around stage 9.

i used to always die on this stage -- i'd get to it with only a couple of lives left and throw them away almost instantly.

i'm glad times have changed, haha.

It's all clear now. His father was trying to kill him and really makes up the worst excuse possible after being caught.

Dad: How do you like paperock? A nice place to visit, right?

Alex: But dad, everything I touched instantly killed me and I got here with one life left. Cars were trying to run me over, scorpions stinging me and all kinds of other shit I don't wanna talk about. But what the fuck is up with this castle? It didn't look THAT big from the outside.

I just beat this today on the new SEGA Ultimate Collection on 360.

It's a fair game but...

WOW this game has to have the worst plot of all time, haha!

Does it even have a "plot"?

Nothing in it makes sense... Backgrounds slowly turning to stone, fire that moves, everyone wants to play rock paper scissors... wow.

I got to this stage many times as a kid but i never managed to beat it.

See that chest in the pyramid at 7:26? It's possible to get yourself stuck in that spot with no way out if you crouch when you have a one-space opening, and then you have to restart the entire level.
