Hello .I found this looking for a review on the tone of a modulus VJ.I like your ,it is very graceful and sounds wonderful. The Jazz bass sounds so good!I am ordering a VJ but with chechen fretboard.I should reconsider after hearing this .Just the feel of the wood I guess.I was wondering how to gain knowledge of the fretboard like you have.Is there a home study or computer stuff ,books? how did you gain the knowledge to play as well as you do?I want to head in this direction.Your tone is king!

@GBagley Thank you for the answer. I love the flat ones, but now I am looking forward to try these, though they are not that easy to find.
With gratitude, all the best

this is beautiful...
You are excellent and I love the sound of your bass. The Thomastik Infeld Jazz Round how long do they last before you feel to change them? (The flat ones are really long lasting)

@marcelloney - It depends. On my Ken Lawrence (main electric bass) I typically change them every 6 months or so. On my Guild Starfire though I've had the same set for years (about 3 years now I think).

What do you pay for your Thomastik Infield Jazz rounds?

@RonPaulMountainBiker - Same as anyone else (ie. a lot of money!)

Well I know what bass I'm getting once my paycheck comes in! Sounds great. I figure you record directly, but what would you say is the best amp for the Modulus, or even the KL? I'm thinking of picking up a 5 string since your videos featuring that bass are awesome.

I do record direct (most of the time). The best thing you can do is to take your bass into a music store and play it through different amps to get a feel for what sounds best. I use an Acoustic Image Coda Combo. But I mostly do theatrical stuff, so I need an amp that's small and easy to deal with. The Coda is perfect for my needs, might not be for yours though.
