This isn't Biblical at all. You are thinking of god... not God. Be careful... it let's seducing spirits take hold in your life.

Mantra = 1, Hinduism, Buddhism any sacred word or syllable used as an object of concentration.
2, Hinduism a vedic psalm of praise (Sankrit ; Speech, instrument of thought). Taken from Collins English Dictionary.

i dont like the fact that ppl are saying things like "come HOME to the catholic church" for those who don't know the word catholic means 'universal' meaning the church is ONE body..so catholic, protestants...ONE body of Christ. Stop with talk of division. we may not agree on some rituals but we believe in One God and the only way to HIM is Jesus Christ!
-
@cranberrydude you can be the one to bring it there!
-
i would like christian meditation to be also in protestant churches, particularly the evangelical ones.

Don't Ignore your sins but have them FORGIVEN
CONFESSION AT ANY CATHOLIC CHURCH.
You will feel as light as a bird and you can go have yourself a PIZZA!
-
I feel closest to God when He is inside me, when I receive Him in Holy Communion, Body Blood Soul and Divinity!!!
you cannot get anymore personal than that!!
Come Home to the Catholic Church!!

@thewayofpeace "Jesus son of God have mercy on me a sinner" is NOT a Prayer Word. It is a phrase which has structure meaning and depth. It is not a meaningless word divided into a group of syllables: Ma...Ra...Na...Tha.
The Jesus Prayer is part of our Creed and in a nutshell distills: Original sin, the Incarnation, Divine Sacrifice for Redemption and Mercy. We think upon these things. NOT EMPTY OUR MIND!! When Jesus was asked to teach the apostles to pray, he taught them the Lord's Prayer

Part 2 so the Jesus Prayer does not empty our minds of spiritual thought but is Christ centered which is what True Christian Meditation is all about. This contrasts strongly and opposes Buddhist/Hindu Mediation in which you are not supposed to think about anything. Empty your mind of "All" thought "even spiritual thought"
Mantra means prayer-word. St Theresa of Avila, John Cassian, The Cloud of Unknowing all stress the need for us to practice the repetition of a single word in order to quieten the body and mind, giving the spirit room to breath.
The repetition of the Jesus prayer, v popular in the Orthodox church, is also a form of meditation.
