I threw this together as a quick refresher on using my Roland SPD-S sampler as a live instrument. I created all of the loops and sounds on various synths (with one exception: a loop lifted from Oracular Spectacular) then imported them into my SPD-S. Then I assigned the sounds to the pads on the SPD-S and two external triggers, which included and RMP-5 and a simple sustain pedal. So I guess that I'm essentially playing the song in real time as a one man band.

  • I'm using a Yamaha Beech Custom kit and a Noble & Cooley 4 3/4"x14" Alloy Classic snare and a Sonor 10" Jungle snare.

  • wow creative! what kind of electric pad its that u are using.

  • It's a Roland SPD-S. I created the guitar loops and actually lifted one guitar line from the album. I actually programmed and played the synth lines and dumped them into my sampler. I just programmed the bass patch and sampled the individual notes, since I only need 5 of them. The whole patch (collection of samples on that one particular preset I created) is synced to 101 BPM.
