Clover came from a coworker, her son was rehoming her, and I needed a companion for my boy rabbit. We had NO idea they would be the same exact color and breed, it was 100% purely coincidental!!
Clover's story: She was bought for my coworker's grandson, who was only 4 years old at the time. She was being kept in a 29 gallon tall fishtank on pine bedding with no water bottle, no hay, nothing but food thrown in. They never let her out of the fishtank because they couldn't catch her to put her back in the tank afterwards and she pooped everywhere (she was unspayed at the time). One day she banged up on the screen top while jumping, and a weight they kept on top so she couldn't escape rolled off, and fell onto the kid's toe, and broke it. Later, they decided to rehome her, and I jumped on it, since I needed a buddy for my boy and all, and was waiting until after Easter for a rejected new easter bunny to give a new home to. I didn't know her coloring, breed, gender, anything, until I picked her up.
When I brought Clover home, she LUNGED at me and growled. I didn't even know rabbits COULD growl! She tried biting several times, but after a while and lots of feedings, and when they were both spayed and introduced to each other, she calmed down. I cannot pick her up, and cannot go to her, but she will go to me to be pet. She's 100% bonded to Hazel, our boy bunny though. She ALSO follows my son (who is 4 now) around the house because he feeds her veggies and herbs from our fridge CONSTANTLY!

They do get out and play, but they have seperate out of cage time from my prairie dog. They get along WONDERFULLY with my two cats, and honestly the boy bunny is fine with my prairie dog, it's the girl bunny I watch out for. She lunged once at him, but that was it, but I still watch her like a hawk.

  • i was looking at bunny breeds and those look alot more like Rhinelander breed.

  • @timkrishna Rhinelander don't have the kinky plush rex fur that my two had. Unless I'm mistaken? I know these guys weighed more than a normal mini rex did, but weren't as large as a standard rex. Their fur DEFINITELY was rex, though.
