i hadn't seen nightmare before christmas for a while but i did feel like sally was a perfect character for the song and when i downloaded the movie the imagery was even better than i'd realised. I wouldn't say it's based on her though- Sally's storyline maybe a little more optimistic.. But the wierd possessiveness of her relationship with the doctor fits

I'm old, and I think laura marling is at LEAST as good as Joni Mitchell, and a bit like Sandy Denny, and better somehow than Harriet Wheeler (out of the Sundays), and then just people like Nick Drake and John Martyn.. really sweriously talented and convincing and fresh and, what?, 18? 18! xx
