  • Thats an excellent tip about the size of the ball so as not to penetrate the windpipe!

Is there any advantage in using the rigid needle as opposed to a flexible one?

Ive crop fed sick parrots before but Im having problems getting the beak open on this pee-wee Im currently caring for. Had the same prob with a pigeon once. Do you recommend it, or is it just not practical?

  • @ellaova

You have the advantage of being in complete control of the rigid needle. No problems with crop needling pigeons, pee wee's or any other soft bills for that matter, simply use the same technique demonstrated with the finch in the You Tube Clip. As with parrots, being confident with a crop needle and administering emergency food or medication to passererines can be a life saving technique.

  • Great video, just have my first bird (a lovebird) with a cockatiel on the way. Hope i don;t have to use this, but i am learning a lot from your videos. Thanks.

  • A pet lover can save his Pet . from the info provided

  • This should not be on YouTube. Vets should perform it, not show the public how to do that. Poor bird used for this video!
