Is there any advantage in using the rigid needle as opposed to a flexible one?
Ive crop fed sick parrots before but Im having problems getting the beak open on this pee-wee Im currently caring for. Had the same prob with a pigeon once. Do you recommend it, or is it just not practical?

You have the advantage of being in complete control of the rigid needle. No problems with crop needling pigeons, pee wee's or any other soft bills for that matter, simply use the same technique demonstrated with the finch in the You Tube Clip. As with parrots, being confident with a crop needle and administering emergency food or medication to passererines can be a life saving technique.
