@abolt2owner a .243 is capable of sub moa past 500yrds dependin on 3 factors.
1 rifle quality,2 match ammo, 3 shooter
-
@Tristin471 its hard to compare those two guns because rifles and shotguns recoil different to me the .243 has more of a push and the 12 gauge has more of a hit type recoil but really when i am shooting i dont feel either one
-
@GAMOkid26 i got a 7600 with iron sights on it and shooting cold offhand i can hit 2 out of 4 on a mansized target from 202 yards
-
Try it about 1000 yards. it will go even farther then that. a 243 can go about 3-4 miles

@TruebluAussie Thanks mate. I ended up getting a .308. I guess I err'd on the side of a larger calibre just in case haha. Ammo cost isn't something I'm worried about as I don't go that often. It's a great gun. Fair bit of kick but my god is that thing accurate. I've got a 3-9x40 Bushnell Elite scope on it which goes great but I might get something with a little more magnification soon. My mate just picked up the same gun but in .223.

@plummersimon 1. NEVER mention roo shooting unless you have tags. its illegal and people surf pages to find blokes like you who write that. 243 is cheaper and i have shot foxes out at 400yards with my wetherby 243. 270 and 308 just get too pricy with ammo. even a 223 will do the job and is about 80c a shot...compared to $1.20 for 243.

well a 12 gauge is like gettin punched in the sholder, not hard but hard enough. and a 243 is like haveing ur little sister slap you, it doesnt hurt but it makes ur eyes blink. ive shot a 375 magnum! that was like having a boxer punch your arm. luckily i only had to shoot it once. lol 3 inch groups at 200 yards? that pretty suckish, not insult, it might be the gun. i have a model 700 classic in 243 and i can shoot 1/4 inch groups at 300 yards with that. but ive had a lot of range time. see yah

@GAMOkid26
1/4 inch groups at 300 yards? Before anyone makes such a claim be prepared to prove it. Anyone making such a claim either doesn't know what 300 yards looks like or is stuck shooting a Gamo pellet rifle.....

How much more does a .243 kick compared to a 12 gauge birdshot?
Tristin471 1 year ago
@Tristin471 Very similar, depending on the rifle. Most light 12 gauge loads in a heavier or gas operated gun don't have too much recoil. Heavy waterfowl loads will recoil considerably more. A .243 or 6mm is very pleasant to shoot with little recoil. It does kick, but unless your very small framed or sensitive to the muzzle blast, you shouldn't find it offensive.
