The Pentax 645 is the medium-format camera that time and technology refuses to kill off. The descendant of a camera first launched in the 1980s, the new 40-megapixel 645D is the first all-digital version -- abandoning the use of roll-film to bring a host of new tricks to the tried-and-tested design.

  • I am very pleased with this review. Unlike most reviewers I see around the net, this guy seems knowledgeable about the camera and about photography. Pentax keeps reassuring itself as my favorite camera manufacturer! Hope to someday evolve to the point that I have the need for this camera.

  • I like how they compare a 645 to a 35mm digital. Interesting side note, 35mm was designed to be portable. 645 was designed for image quality. 645 users already know that a tripod is sometimes required. I have used 645 for many non conventional purposes (sports, gymnastics) and have had none of the issues that were brought up in the video. I think that this camera is great and live view is not and will not be a "deciding" factor in 645D realm. Great vide though.

  • ain't no auto mode on that camera. thats some serious shit right there.

  • I have to say this....REALLY fantastic review by you, unlike other reviews of cameras.

  • @chrismallyon

    Cool story bro'

You can take a 645D outdoor without any problem. IT's weatherproof, as the lenses.

That's what i mean, you cannnot compare a Hassy made for studio, which is very fragile. The 645D, build like a tank, more for outdoor events.

And, i repeat, Pentax have a long experience with MF cameras, they know what they are doing, just like Hassy. (BTW, you should know than the hasselblad cameras are made in ....Japan, by Fujifilm....)

  • @MYTRB Really? Derailing a discussion after being proven wrong is your usual way of going about things?

  • @couscousdelight of course, but whoever take a $10k camera outdoor in HAZARDOUS weather has either got more money than brains or they do not own the camera.

  • @MYTRB

Of course, but try to bring your blad outdoor with hazardeous weather, just for fun.

BTW, it's not the first medium format camera made by Pentax, but of course, you don't know what you are talking about...)

  • @chrismallyon

Yeah, and there is no video mode !

(Seriously, it's just a fantastic tool to make amazing pictures, and it looks like you just don't know what you are talking about )
