Yeah, kinda... gravelly. The effect can be kind of irritating- especially when you get two or three of them (Duff, Kellogg, and Clark crossings are so equipped) all going off at once. I should probably scout for better locations at some point. But there's a neat bakery near this one. Mmm, Dutch letters...

Yeah, those are funky aren't they... The set of crossings around there were actually the original test site for the things, so they've been there for quite a while. There was a sidebar in Trains magazine about them at the time I think.
