This podcast differentiates Philip Johnson's ambiguous definition of INside and OUTside spaces at the Glass House from those of Frank Lloyd Wright at Fallingwater. Calling the gravel walkway to the Glass House and Guest House a "hallway," the intervening lawn a "green carpet" and the glass wall's framed views of nature "expensive wallpaper," Johnson throws out conventional definitions of INside and OUTside. Less about extension, as in Fallingwater, and more about inversion, Johnson's many ways of treating OUTside and INside space on his 47-acre house is the subject of this podcast.
