This is the same Tony Kenny as that screeching glam popster who had a hit with Heart Of Stone back in 1973, only to have the name Kenny re-deployed by the same songwriters for a new five piece band who then opened their account with a cover of a Bay City Rollers B-side?! Strange things indeed happened in the 1970s! I was 8 years old then in 1973 so I find it hard to reconcile the Tony Kenny on TOTP back then with this guy here!!

I've seen Tony in concert 3 times & I think he's 1 of Ireland's greatest singers EVER! This song WORD-FOR-WORD says EXACTLY how I feel about my father, who also was Irish, a native Chicagoan, but,still an Irishman! Last name:Gallagher. I unfortunately lost my father 3 yrs ago 2 cancer & my life's not been nor will it EVER be the same 4 eternity! I LOVE,CHERISH,& TREASURE that man & his influence over me 4ever! My father was,is,& always will be TRULY a gift from the Good Lord in Heaven Himself!!!

This encapsulates the way I felt after my dad died 4 years ago. At the reception after his funeral, this song just kept going over and over in my head. And Tonys version was the 1st one I had heard.

He was great in the Sands Showband and Heart of Stone was a great track ,pity The Bump ripped his name off .
